At DUOTONE. only real game-changer products qualify for the D/LAB logo. So what is so special about these boards that they will be the first D/LAB products under DUOTONE Windsurfing?

For the last 3 years our product manager boards Dani Aeberli and our QC specialist Vasin Siritho have been working on a new technology that is exclusive to DUOTONE. We call it CUSTOM CNC SANDWICH.

We use a construction that is one hundred percent identical to the highest quality custom made boards. Instead of using a mold to shape the EPS foam core into its final shape. each EPS block is CNC milled. This ensures maximum precision and saves weight.

As with high-end custom board manufacturers. the big advantage lies in the processing. We call this SINGLE PROCESS TECHNOLOGY and it’s the key to our industry-leading weight-to-strength ratio.

Instead of combining steps to save time and money. each individual step follows its own process. For example. instead of joining the PVC sandwich to the EPS core in a single operation. we vacuum seal the top and bottom PVC sheets separately onto the EPS core.

In addition. instead of using standard 3mm PVC elements for the entire board. we also use thicker and thinner PVC sheets according to the load areas. making the overall construction lighter yet more stable.

For all D/LAB boards. we use our most sophisticated construction. consisting of more than 60 individual parts and components (almost 20% more parts than our SLS Premium Sandwich Construction).The result speaks for itself. as the D/LAB boards are around 500 grams lighter than our SLS boards and up to a whole kilo lighter than other production boards. And it is the first time that a production board can even compete with the lightest custom-made boards available.

And all this without compromising on durability. because we always follow our core motto LIGHT DONE RIGHT.

Please note that. at least in the first year. quantities will be strictly limited – just like a real custom board. For this reason. only the most popular sizes GRIP 4 and GRIP 3 will be available in D/LAB technology.

The most important question you need to ask yourself now is which fin configuration best suits your personal riding style:

The GRIP 4 with its quad fin configuration gives you maximum drive and grip for committed rail-to-rail turns. even in XXL wavesThe GRIP 3 has slightly better acceleration due to an efficient rocker with a lower drag entry. which is especially helpful in jumping conditions. The thruster fin configuration allows for earlier tail release for tighter/slashy turns. even in less than ideal waves.
