Description
Duotone Super_Hero SLS 2024
For us. this dream began 4 years ago when we took the liberty of designing a sail that had never been seen before.
We wanted:
- Maximum wind range through better planing power but without sacrificing overpower.
- Ultra light weight in the hand (= Sailing WEIGHT)
- A sustainable sail without sacrificing durability/longevity
But all three wishes contradict each other. and that’s the reason why we put 4 years of pure development work into this one sail.
The result is magical. The SUPER_HERO SLS gives you the freedom to ride with your style. A direct connection to your sail. thanks to the lightning fast reflex response of our new Fusion technology. But make sure your sail doesn’t think faster than you do now!
SAIL-SHAPINGThe smaller the sail gets. the more important control becomes.Conversely. the larger the sail. the more important planing and light sail feel become. That’s why the smaller sizes up to 4.5 have a deeper and central pressure point position. similar to the regular SUPER_HERO. giving you maximum control and neutrality. especially when conditions get rough.Starting with the 5.0 size. however. the pressure point shifts slightly up and forward from size to size. So the 5.7 has a similar pressure point position to the SUPER_STAR. The higher pressure point lifts the board and improves planing performance. It also makes the sail feel even lighter in the hand. which is especially important to compensate for the higher dead weight that larger sails bring.
TECHNOLOGYWith the brand new MONOCOQUE FUSION BODY construction. we were finally able to eliminate all sewn body panels.Compared to the sewn SUPER_STAR SLS. this results in the following advantages:1. additional weight reduction of 150-200g.2. the whole sail acts as one unit. as any "play" between the panels is eliminated. The result is a more efficient (= larger wind range) as well as more responsive sail (= lighter in the hand).3. stronger: machine tear tests prove that the thickest monofilms and even Dyneema- or Kevlar-reinforced laminates will tear before the fusion bonding gives up.
MATERIALSWith our INTELLIGENT CARBON XPLY CONSTRUCTION. we have found the ideal balance. The CARBON XPLY in the tension-loaded clew area improves force transfer to the batten above the fork. The CARBON XPLY reinforcements from the top to the batten 2 as well as from the foot luff to the foot batten guarantee an unsurpassed low stretch and power transmission. However. the slightly more (re)flexing regular XPly in the body panel prevents the power from becoming uncontrollable. On the water. this opens up a whole new chapter: with regular sails. the gaps between sizes are usually around 0.5 sqm. With the SUPER_HERO SLS. however. you can easily switch from a 5.3 to a 4.5. for example.
Please note: After intensive UV irradiation. the hotmelt adhesion may take on a yellowish tinge. Extensive laboratory and water tests confirm that this is purely aesthetic and has no effect on the mechanical properties/strength. Therefore. this is excluded from the warranty.
Properties
MONOCOQUE FUSION BODY CONSTRUCTIONNo more sewn body panels > 150-200 g weight savings > No more "play" between panels > Fusion bond even stronger than any monofilm or XPly material >> Largest wind range ever in a wave sail
LOWEST SAILING WEIGHTTHERE IS NO SAIL THAT FEELS LIGHTER THAN THE SUPER_HERO SLS! FOR MORE DETAILS SEE BELOW UNDER SAILING WEIGHT
INTELLIGENT CARBON XPLY CONSTRUCTIONCARBON XPLY in the highly stressed clew and top area guarantees unsurpassed low stretch and direct response. The slightly more (re)flexing regular XPLY in the body. however. prevents the power from becoming uncontrollable.
XPLY PLUSThe laminate (100/150 micron) with the lowest stretch and the best UV and puncture resistance on the market
INDIVIDUAL PRESSURE POINT POSTIONINDIVIDUAL PRESSURE POINT POSITION ADJUSTED TO THE SAIL SIZE FOR MAXIMUM CONTROL AND WIND RANGE
SUPER-LIGHT BUMPERThe lightest protector on the market. with integrated luff trim indicator slot
ATTENTION: since the mast geometry and length (= stiffness) depends on the sail design. size and luff curve. the sails will NOT work with masts that do not comply with the recommendations!
