For whom?
This second model alongside the Reo V7 is a razor-sharp. laser-focused wave kite for riders looking for ultimate performance.
The Ultra-X model is based on the same transversal sail shape and airframe skeleton as the Reo V7. but features a 20% lighter Dacron and 17% lighter sail material. It’s probably one of the lightest pure wave kites on the market. but weight isn’t everything.
As always. our main focus has been on aerodynamic performance and the Ultra-X is consistently stiffer. offers more drift. reduces nose diving tendencies at the wind window edge in radical surf and offers lightning fast. super-crisp response.
The drift performance and responsiveness at the wind window edge in low line tension situations is perhaps the biggest draw for those looking for true surf performance. While the Reo has always been a pure wave performance machine. all these slight performance enhancements also offer great benefits to the freeride kitefoiler.

BUILDING FROM THE V7 BASE
The Ultra-X is based on the new V7 structure. Many small changes have been made to the seams and panels since the V6 model. but the biggest improvement in canopy tautness has been achieved by shaping the sail transversely at the leading edge. which improves your feeling of sail control.
Thanks to the experience of our paraglider designers. the V7 structure has an additional seam in the sail that runs close to the leading edge. allowing for even better 3D shaping.
Not only have we managed to make the profile more curved. but thanks to the additional seam we have also achieved more strength in the high lift area.
Ultra X materials
Working with colleagues in the dedicated prototyping department at the Ozone factory. our design team undertook an intensive materials development and testing program that spanned more than three years.
The use of lightweight high performance materials has resulted in improved drift. faster responsiveness / turning speed and more propulsion of the kite through the entire wind window. Although the Reo Ultra-X is around 20% lighter than the V7. all the materials used are proven to be very robust.
LIGHTER WEIGHT PERFORMANCE DACRON
The leading edge and struts are not only 20% lighter than 160g standard Dacron. but also stiffer. This new 125g performance dacron material. which is also used in our new Flux V1. guarantees longer lasting shape stability of the structure. but also allows for more responsive handling and a higher tension sail area for more aerodynamic performance.
LIGHTER WEIGHT CANOPY
Utilizing the weight saving properties of Teijin’s latest 46g double ripstop fabric (17% lighter than a standard 55g triple ripstop) also contributes to improved drift performance. The high-performance coating ensures a high level of strength and durability at a low weight.
BRIDLES – COMPLETING THE FULL EXTENT OF THE MISSION
By using a Technora bridle material that is 25% lighter and 25-35% thinner to further reduce drag in all performance areas. we have been able to further increase aerodynamic performance.
